"Whiskey Sour - Instructional Video"

The primary purpose of this project was to provide a clear, step-by-step technical guide for crafting classic whiskey sour from scratch. Success in mixology depends on precise ratios and specific techniques, such as the "dry shake" (shaking without ice to emulsify the egg white). This achieves its purpose by breaking down a multi-step process into digestible, visual segments. By emphasizing the balance between the "sweet" (simple syrup) and "sour" (lemon juice) components, the video ensures the viewer understands the why behind the flavor profile, not just the how of the assembly. The target audience for this project is the home enthusiast—individuals who enjoy cocktail culture but may feel intimidated by professional bar equipment or techniques.

A video was selected as the most effective tool for this specific audience and purpose for several reasons; techniques like "2:1:1 ratio" are difficult to explain in text but can be understood instantly through observation. Additionally, a video allows the audience to follow along in real-time. The ability to pause and rewind ensures the viewer can match the instructor’s pace while measuring ingredients. Also, it captures the texture of the foam and the consistency of the drink, which helps the viewer identify if their own drink "looks right," providing immediate feedback that a sound-only or text-only project could not offer. The intentional use of "mise en place" (having all ingredients visible and ready to measure). This was a deliberate pedagogical choice to demonstrate organization and reduce "choice paralysis" for the beginner. Furthermore, focusing on the foamy egg white was critical, as it is the primary indicator of a well-executed whiskey sour.
