Dear Gabriela,

First we would like to thank you for contacting PepsiCo to share your concerns regarding our "Live for Now" advertisement featuring Kendall Jenner. We appreciate the time you took to detail the impact of this campaign and for holding us to the ambitious standards of corporate responsibility that our consumers expect.

Our team acknowledge the validity of your concerns and recognize that the "Live for Now" campaign missed the mark. Your assessment is correct: by attempting to project a global message of unity and peace, we inadvertently trivialized the serious and complex nature of social justice movements. We understand that the resolution of conflict through the exchange of a beverage, felt exploitative and dismissive of the real-world risks taken by activists. We sincerely apologize for any offense we have caused and for our failure to recognize the gravity of the historical parallels depicted.

To amend this PepsiCo is committed to rectifying this oversight and ensuring that our marketing efforts reflect the respect we hold for our community and its struggles. In response to your request, we have initiated the process of removing the advertisement from all television networks, digital platforms, and social media channels globally. Additionally, we are issuing a public statement that acknowledges our error in judgment and specifically apologizes for putting Kendall Jenner and the public in this position.

We value your feedback. Thank you for your patience as we work to make these changes.

Sincerely,

The Marketing and Public Relations Team
