To the Marketing and Public Relations Team:

I am submitting this claim to express my profound disappointment and protest regarding the “Live for Now” advertisement featuring Kendall Jenner. This campaign represents a significant failure in project analysis and social responsibility. I am requesting that the advertisement be immediately withdrawn from all platforms and addressed with a formal apology.

The commercial depicts a generic protest where tensions between activists and law enforcement are high. The act, in which Ms. Jenner hands a police officer a can of Pepsi to elicit smiles and celebration, is deeply problematic. The narrative suggests that complex, systemic social issues, and the historical struggle for civil rights can be resolved by a consumer product. As a consumer who prioritizes corporate ethics, I find this content harmful as it downplays the lived experiences of protesters who face real-world risks while advocating for justice. Furthermore, the visual parallels of courageous activists are used here for the sole purpose of commodity exchange, which is both exploitative and cynical. Treating serious social movements as a marketing backdrop severely diminishes the brand's credibility.

To rectify this situation and demonstrate that PepsiCo acknowledges its social impact, I request to remove the advertisement from all television networks and digital platforms immediately, and to issue a public statement acknowledging the specific ways this campaign failed to respect the gravity of social justice movements.

Thank you for your attention to this serious matter. I look forward to your prompt response.

Sincerely,

Gabriela Mendez
